Core Summary

Advanced Research Computing (ARC) provides researchers at the University of Michigan with high performance computing (HPC) tools applicable to disciplines across campus. Most users can get started at no cost with U-M Research Computing Package providing up to 110TB of storage and 80,000 HPC Hours.

ARC systems and staff provide support reducing runtime and simplifying large compute, storage, data science problems. ARC provides full support for PHI/HIPAA, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI 800-171) and export controlled data (ITAR). All systems come with a robust software application library and development environment for those creating their own research applications.

ARC provides a large number of data management resources and tools including extreme performance storage to low cost cold archive. These services are all tied to together with high performance networks minimize the time moving data. We provide the Globus.org ecosystem for high performance, highly reliable data transfer and international and public data sharing. The entire ecosystem is automatize for data collection from laboratory and field instruments easing data capture.

Lastly ARC has a new consulting service that can assist with methods development, application development, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence and more. Initial consultations are no cost and consultants can be included on grants for extended needs.
