Core Summary
ABSL-3 facilities for in-vivo work are currently only able to support rodent studies. Most research being conducted in the ABSL-3 is dedicated to SARS-Cov2 and the ability to support multi-pathogen work is limited.

Operations and facility maintenance of the ABSL-3 is supported by ULAM with daily husbandry care of animals provided by the research staff. ULAM is responsible for stocking supplies (animal caging, PPE, disinfectant, ect), autoclaving out dirty equipment and supplies, general facility cleaning, and coordination of facility and equipment maintenance. Laboratories supply their own consumables and any research equipment or supplies not listed below in the core equipment outline. Typical lead times for laboratories to complete training and gain access to the ABSL-3 facilities is 3 months after IBC and animal use protocol approval. All new projects require an initial consultation between EHS, ULAM veterinary and husbandry staff, and the interested researcher.
