• • The ULAM Training Core provides training in the proper care and use of research animals, including the development of novel training strategies and techniques for all animal users through both online and interactive classes. Continued training support is also offered to personnel upon request. Training can be tailored to individual or laboratory-specific learning objectives and scheduled at the requestor’s convenience. Individuals are welcome to return as often as needed, at no additional charge.
  • The Refinement & Enrichment Advancements Laboratory (REAL) is dedicated to providing expertise and collaboration to colleagues interested in refining their animal model(s) and/or animal care by understanding the intersection of the animal’s lived experience and the scientific results.
  • The Compassion Awareness Project (CAP) is a ULAM-led initiative to address the issue of compassion fatigue, including the subsequent mental and physical health issues and job-related concerns it can cause. CAP uses a multifaceted approach to engage and educate all departmental staff, with the goal of reducing compassion fatigue and improving compassion satisfaction.
